Charnwood Community Grants

The community grants scheme is now open for 2022/23.The new Charnwood Community Grant is an amalgamation of the Community Development and Engagement grant, Loughborough Community Engagement Grant and the Sport and Physical activity grants providing a more simplified single point for all applications.

  • The Charnwood Community Grant can provide up to £5,000 for organisations currently running projects with community benefit in Charnwood, including:
    • organisational running costs (for up to one year)
    • environmental projects
    • one-off contributions for equipment costs.
  • If £5,000 is awarded in round 1 you will not be eligible to apply in round 2. Please note the average amount awarded is likely to be lower than this.
  • The maximum amount of grant that can be applied for in one year is £5,000. Applications can be made in both rounds to a maximum combined total of £5,000.

Charnwood Community Facilities Grants

  • The Community facilities grants scheme can award funding of up to £20,000, to a maximum of 50% of the cost of a project.
  • This grants scheme is available for applications from all Charnwood Voluntary and Community Sector organisations, including Sports Clubs and Physical Activity groups.
  • This scheme supports the renovation, improvement and provision of community buildings, including fitting out and provision of facilities for people with disabilities, (but not routine maintenance)

Eligible applications are assessed against the criteria by our Cabinet for this grant scheme - our guidance notes explain the criteria.

Applicants are advised to submit their applications as early as possible rather than waiting until the deadline, this will give us more opportunity to ask for further information if we need it to make a proper assessment.

Member Grants

For the 2022/23 financial year, each borough councillor was allocated an annual budget of £500 to be used to support projects that bring benefits to their ward.

  • Organisations currently running projects with community benefit in Charnwood are invited to apply for a minimum of £250 per member, and up to a maximum of £500 per member, and applications may be made to more than one member.
  • Funding can be provided towards community events, activities, equipment, uniformed groups such as Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies.
  • The Member Grants scheme for 2022/23 is now open.
  • The grant programme closes January 31, 2023
