Men Can Say it's Okay to Not be Okay

Join local sporting heroes and personalities for an evening of discussion about mental wellbeing and how men can become more confident with connecting with each other about the topic.

This will be held as a live ZOOM Panellist Webinar and is part of our Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport Virtual Conference during November 2020.

During this show you will Join local sporting heroes and personalities for an evening of discussion about mental wellbeing and how men can become more confident with connecting with each other about the topic.

The panellist for "Men Can Say it's Okay to Not be Okay" will be:

Matt Piper (Director & Co Owner of FSD Academy & Ex Leicester City FC Player) – Matt famously scored the last-ever goal at Filbert Street with his diving match-winning header against Tottenham Hotspur. Sadly the following season his career was devastated by injury. Today, Matt now runs an academy developing life skills and creating educational opportunities, work experience and job opportunities for his students. Matt is also very well known to the Leicester public through his work as a matchday commentator on BBC Radio Leicester, which sees him in the pressbox for all of Leicester City's home and away games.

Hassan Azad (Leicestershire County Cricket) - Left-handed batsman Hassan Azad signed his first professional contract at Leicestershire CCC at the start of the 2019 season after impressing greatly in the Second XI in 2018. The 26-year-old, who has played first-class cricket for Loughborough MCCU, was previously on the Nottinghamshire CCC Academy.

Darien Nelson-Henry (Leicester Riders) – American 6'11 big man Darien Nelson-Henry graduated from Penn, with a successful senior season being named in Second-team All-ivy and All-Big 5 selection. The Kirkland, Washington native has experience of playing abroad in Austria.

We are delighted to announce Matt Hampson will be supporting next weeks Men Can Say It's Okay to Not be Okay Panel Show with a special pre-recorded interview which will be aired during the live session. We will be speaking to Matt about the impact of sport on his mental wellbeing and how connecting with others is vital to ensure positive outcomes and support.
