Running

The Government guidelines on access to Green Spaces has changed, enabling more options be active and enjoy the great outdoors. Please be mindful to maintain social distancing. The latest guidelines can be found here

Whether your a beginner or an avid runner, running is a great form of exercise that has many health benefits, not only does it help to reduce the risk of chronic illness; heart disease, stroke, cancer and type 2 diabetes.

Running can also improve:

  • Mood and general well-being
  • Sleep
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Muscle and bone health

Anyone can run there's no limit on age or ability, it's a free and easy form of physical activity! All you need to get started is a pair of trainers and sports clothes

You can choose the time, pace and distance to suit your lifestyle

Running doesn't always have to be competitive but you may get hooked once you start :)

The local Charnwood parkrun is Dishley parkrun, Loughborough, a weekly free 5km timed run/jog/walk. To find out more about parkrun and sign up visit the parkrun uk webpages. Whilst face to face events are suspended, the team at Dishley have been creative and invite you to join in a virtual 'Not-Dishley parkrun'. Details on their Facebook page. Links below:

Kids Run Free

We hold free running events for children aged 0-16 through the summer. All abilities are welcome and families are invited to come along for support or join in with their children
